Jilly Idle has once again joined forces with LarsErik Films to create all of the music and songs for their latest film... the short film series “Door Mat.”
Jilly is a self-taught Chicago musician/singer/songwriter well known on the coffeehouse and club scene. She was one half of the band Carnival of Faith, and has collaborated with Three Fried Rice.
She released her emotionally-charged solo album entitled “Porchsongs,” to critical acclaim. It was a collection of 12 acoustic love songs in which, as one reviewer pointed out, Jilly “wears her heart on her sleeve.”
Jilly first teamed with Erik and the gang for “Problem Child,” creating incidental music and contributing a previous song she had recorded with Uncle Alice.
From there, she set about working on the feature-length musical “Graham Crackers” with the group, writing and performing all of the music and writing or co-writing most of the original songs.
She provided the seasonal sounds to “Nut Cracker” (and makes a brief cameo in the film).
When everyone reunited a few years later to begin their most challenging project, Jilly was one of the first to sign on. Jilly stepped away from her folk roots to create original songs and incidental music for “Meter Girls” in the freewheeling fun lounge style of the 1960s.
Now, once again, Jilly is back at work with her guitar and collection of instruments and noisemakers to create the music for the “Door Mat” series. As always, her art creates the mood, and perfectly defines the characters.
